Due to our northern location we don’t normally begin rowing until the beginning of May. The season is most active from mid-May to mid-October, around HOCR weekend. If you’re interested in regular rowing, please contact downeastrowing@gmail.com. Important the club uses the Team Reach app (available for iPhones and Android) to track attendance, send weather alerts, and keep members in touch. Please email for instructions on how to connect to Downeast Rowing on the app.
Sculling
For 2026 we plan to have sculling sessions with a coach supervising five days a week, with a balance of Youth, Adult Learn to Row, Recreational Scullers and Competitive Scullers sessions. Saturdays are Group Club Rows with the opportunity to row in the 4+ or 4x; Saturdaycan accommodate scullers still learning technique but able to row an Aero or a single; Wednesday mornings are set aside for Learn to Row. Learn to Row sessions on Wednesday mornings are for individuals brand new to sculling/rowing. Competitive Rows/Workouts on Thursday and Sunday are for athletes wanting to train together and may be unsupervised (no launch) but coordinated by the participants.
Learn to Row / Learn to Scull sessions (2 weeks each) will allow new athletes to get a start, and then, based on interest, join organized outings with Recreational or more competitive groups of scullers.
Experienced scullers/club members that have demonstrated proficiency and who follow safety procedures are able to row/scull on their own schedule.

Outings are anticipated for experienced scullers and or sweep rowers in 2025. We hope to have an experienced 4x or 4+ go out Saturday mornings.
